Need something to ease into the weekend with, before you hit the really hard stuff? Swedish psych-rocker JIRM have you covered. You may have known them previously as “Jeremy Irons And The Ratgang Malibus” but I think we can all see why they dropped that particular moniker and chose to shorten their name up. Recently committed to video, “The Cultist’ sits firmly between hard rock and stoner metal, veering off into all sorts of weed-influenced guitar lines while still surging ahead with low end power, never losing it’s rhythm or sense of purpose. It also doesn’t get too complex and showy, with JIRM playing to the strength of the song and not letting it get lost in the psychedelic madness like so many songs like this threaten to do. People who get down on Lucifer and Salems Pot, I suggest this to accompany your Friday pre-party ritual.
‘The Cultist’comes ahead of the release of their newest album ‘Surge Ex Monumentis’ which was recorded at Puch Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, mixed by Oskar Lindberg at Svenska Grammofonstudion in Gothenburg, Sweden, and mastered by Chris Gooseman at Baseline Audio Labs in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It’s out now so score your copy here and stay up to date with JIRM on facebook
