British Steel – “The Rising Force of British Heavy Metal”

I am not really one for compilations.  It’s been a long time since I’ve purchase any, and I’m thinking back to the days of Cleopatra records or Projekt goth comps which makes me entirely old as fuck so let’s not go there.

I’m not really sure what drew me to check out British Steel – The Rising Force of British Heavy Metal, simply because it’s not the usual stuff I would look into.  I’m really glad I did, because this is a bit of a hidden gem.  Now, for all the blackened death, sludge funeral stoner doom lords, this one probably isn’t for you.  This is straight ahead power metal through and through.  So if you like your Maidens with a side of Iron, your priests with some Judas, and maybe even some Conan, then this may just be for you.

So the compilation is a grouping of British heavy metal bands with a power metal feel to them, so think lots of ridiculous solos, heavy metal hair swinging fast, lots of “yeeeeaaaaaahhh!”, and themes straight out of a 16 year old dungeon master’s guide.  And to be honest, I love it.  I’ve been really rocking this one at the gym a lot lately and it’s perfect music for hopping on a treadmill and running your ass off.

This is perfect music for getting pumped up to as well. If you’re taking the bus, getting your pre-game on or just getting psyched for a party, then I really recommend this.

1. Amulet – Highwayman
2. Aggressive Perfector – Harlot’s Spell
3. Eliminator – Lost To The Void
4. Dungeon – Queen Of Sin
5. Dark Forest – Where The Arrow
6. Toledo Steel – Rock Nights
7. Vuil – Iron Witch
8. Seven Sisters – The Witch’s Eve (this reminds me of Elvenking in a big way)
9. Insurgency – Destined For Death
10. Neuronspoiler – Slay The Beast
11. Wytch Hazel – Freedom Battle

I’m linking the facebooks of all the bands I could find off this compilation down below and I really hope you will all go throw these talented artists a like.
