Trash/Thrash Tuesday: The Cult – “She Sells Sanctuary”

Oh hi there little friendship friends who ride the friendship train with me on the way to friendship land.  How’s it going?  How’s your week?
In case you can’t tell, I’m pretty high right now.
I have horrifying pain in my lady area and I took a new pain killer and holy jumping shit balls.  I ended up completely high off my ass laying in bed hallucinating that my Scentsy wax warmer was going to come alive.  True story, I wouldn’t lie to you.
Anywho, I wanted to pop in with you on this Trash/Thrash Tuesday and share some Scentsy induced fuckery with you.  The Cult.  You guys.  I know I did The Cult’s “Rise” previously for Trash/Thrash, and yeah that’s a sick ass song and what not, but She Sells Sanctuary is an older track and it’s pretty fucking ace if you ask me.
There’s just something about The Cult for me.
It’s got that perfct 1980s death rock type of feel but at the same time is very spiritual.
Ian Astbury has stated in several interviews and truly in most of the work within Southern Death Cult his high regard for Indigenous spirituality.
Let’s get serious here, the Cult/Southern Death Cult was a thing and doing the whole “white Indian” thing way before David Eugene Edwards knew his feather from his Bible.
Much of this imagery remains in his on stage presentation.  I met him once and he was a quick witted intelligent man who was kind to his fans and very personable.
I think this resonated very highly with me because I have a great respect for “stars” who can put on a fucking pounding rock show in one breath and then turn around after the show and hang out with their fans and aren’t santimonious dill holes.
I mean hey, it doesn’t take much to be a halfway decent human being.
In a celebration for halfway decent human beings, here’s She Sells Sanctuary.
Also you can thank me later because this video is a precious gift.
Oh, the heads that turn
Make my back burn
And those heads that turn
Make my back, make my back burnThe sparkle in your eyes
Keeps me alive
And the sparkle in your eyes
Keeps me alive, keeps me aliveThe world
And the world turns around
The world and the world, yeah
The world drags me downOh, the heads that turn
Make my back burn
And those heads that turn
Make my back, make my back burn, yeahYeah-hey…

The fire in your eyes
Keeps me alive
And the fire in your eyes
Keeps me alive
I’m sure in her you’ll find
The sanctuary
I’m sure in her you’ll find
The sanctuary

And the world
The world turns around
And the world and the world
The world drags me down
And the world and the world and the world
The world turns around
And the world and the world and the world and the world
The world drags me down

Ah…

Hey-yeah…

And the world
And the world turns around
And the world and the world
Yeah, the world drags me down
And the world
Yeah, the world turns around
And the world and the world
The world drags me down
