For those of you who have been playing the home game and following the shenanigrams surrounding Peter S. Beagle’s “The Last Unicorn” and it’s ridiculous and sad legal issues, you will know that most recently, Peter S. Beagle has sued Connor Cochran, his former publisher and all time slimeball for elder abuse and fraud, among many other things.
I have previously written about my own experiences working the fated 2014 The Last Unicorn tour, and have also previously called for called for a Boycott to a recent and unethical Seattle showing of the film which was shown without Peter S. Beagle’s consent, by Connor Cochran.
Allow this post to serve as an update.
After Peter S. Beagle sued his former manager for fraud, his own children (who have allegedly previously commented on my tour experience post), filed for conservatorship over their father, citing “dementia”.
I have just been informed, that the lawyer who was representing Peter Beagle’s children has stepped down, urged for the conservatorship suit to be thrown out, and IT HAS BEEN. The lawyer, worth her own salt, stated that the case had no merit, due to physicians signing off that Peter is with it mentally.
You can read more about it here. And if you’re so inclined, you can read the legal papers yourself here and I urge you, that if you have purchased any of Peter’s work during this time of legal upheaval, that you contact his lawyer Kathleen Hunt.
We stand in solidarity with Peter S. Beagle and we stand in solidarity for the Unicorn.
