You’re in luck too as something hit my inbox this weekend from our friends in Fistula that I haven’t been able to stop listening to and been dying to yell at everyone about. Easily the standout track from their newest demo release Destitute, Morgue Attendant is likely going to have the most necrophilic subject matter put to musical form your finely tuned ears will hear this week (unless you’re a weirdo like me and buy Jorg Buttguriet vinyl but that’s a story for another time).

Starting out with a audio clip dredged up from a news story about Ohio lover of the dead Kenneth Douglas, Morgue Attendant beats the ever loving fuck out of the listener from the moment the crusty guitars and crushing drums kick in. Dan’s vocals only add to the miasmic proceedings, delivering a few swift kicks to the ribs while the rest of the band pins you to the ground with the thick sludgy assault we’ve come to expect from them.

Oh, and did I mention they sorta namedrop one of my favorite horror movies, Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things? Yeah, it’s no wonder these guys are becoming one of my favorite sludge metal peddlers.
