Corpse Fucking Art – Jorg Buttgereit documentary

The other night, ye olde Scott Floronic and myself sat down for a nice relaxing night in.  We lit some candles, burned some incense, had a hot bath and popped in Corpse Fucking Art, the mini Jorg Buttgereit documentary that comes on the Blu-Ray release of Der Todesking.

Okay first of all, let’s all agree that Jorg Buttgereit could get it, and put this whole thing to rest.  He’s fine as hell and I’m not even mad that he has seemingly devoted his life to making films about people fucking corpses.

So if you don’t know who Jorg Buttgereit actually is, here’s the skinny on that – he made a film called Nekromantik and it features a dude who does corpse clean up for the city and his fucked up girlfriend.  One day he brings his work home with him and he and his girlfriend fuck the ever loving shit out of this corpse.  Eventually though his girlfriend ends up leaving him for the corpse, because he’s such a sad sack of shit.  What that must do to your self esteem, I can’t say, but damn.

Anywho, this film was a big deal and everyone shit their pants because it featured necrophilia and the live killing and skinning of a rabbit and since the whole world is made of tiny little babies who mewl at the sight of anything controversial and claim oppression, no one could handle the film and it was banned in many countries, some of which still uphold the ban today.  While I can’t argue that Nekromantik has some aspects of bad taste to the film, I get confused about people who get all butthurt because art depicst something they don’t like.  Art is art.  It’s not all happy sunshines and fucking Anne Gedes paintings, and if something is disgusting you or horrifying you, you should ask yourself why and allow this to become a vehicle in better understanding yourself…  you know instead of crying bullying and rape and weeping like a little spleen all the way to Whole Foods.

Nekromantik 2 was a similarly executed film only this time, the film’s necrophile was a female, and Jorg himself states in the Corpse Fucking Art documentary that he wanted to appeal to women in horror and extreme films.  Nekromantik 2 has been featured at women’s film festivals, which is nothing short of amazing.  Can you imagine all the WASPy Lilith Fair types collectively pissing in their granny panties about this?  I can and it’s giving me life.

So with that in mind, Der Todesking was something of a spiritual sequal/companion piece to the Nekromantik movies and revolved around the concept of the Death King, and it was pretty cool actually.  Typical Jorg Buttgereit bad taste style but watching Corpse Fucking Art allowed me to gain a huge appreciation of how these films were made.

I love DIY.  Watching Jorg and his crew talk about how they actually made the fucked up corpses in his films was neat as Hell.

It’s weird to say I was impressed watching this crazy German dude pretty much froth at the mouth explaining how he built a corpse out of basically strawberry yogurt.  It’s fucked and it’s amazing.

hello dairy queen! do i have a project for you..

It’s so very odd how things like this work and how the things you already like can be made even more important by finding out some behind the scenes information.  I love watching people work and seeing how they do things.  I gained a great appreciation of Jorg Buttgereit’s creativity and hope you all do yourselves a favor and do the same.
